Police project

Our police project addresses issues of police violence on the legal front as well as on a systemic level. On the legal front, we dispense legal counsel and support for individuals who were harmed by acts of police violence, providing complainants with guidance and representation throughout the complaint process with the PIID [Police Internal Investigation Department] – from filing the complaint, through appeals and contesting decisions and, where necessary, taking the case up with the High Court of Justice. At the same time, the project also addresses systemic issues pertaining to administrative and legal handling of police violence.

The project also focuses on special populations specifically prone to police brutality: we hold meetings with activists representing these communities, promote dialogue between them and police representatives, conduct training and courses to better inform state agents on subjects of freedom of protest, police violence and PIID complaint processes.
