Hannah Friedman was the founder of PCATI and its Executive Director during the organization first 15 years. Under her guidance PCATI led the HCJ “Torture Petition”, which set a precedent and outlawed torture in Israel. In 2013 she received the Leibowitz Prize for her persistent anti-torture advocacy.

Hannah passed away in June 2021. Her life was dedicated to the fight for human rights.
