PCATI gathers, analyzes and presents evidence-based information about grave human rights violations, in particular torture and ill-treatment, to various international human rights monitoring mechanisms. We regularly submit our written reports:
To the attention of the UN-treaty bodies, especially to the Committee against Torture, the Human Rights Committee and the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women
To the attention of the UN Human Rights Council under the Universal Review Process
To the attention of the UN Special Rapporteurs with relevant mandate
To the European Union’s periodic country reports
To the U.S. State Department’s periodic country reports
PCATI’s legal experts also appear in person in front of the mechanisms and make oral statements. In addition, we use our work before the international mechanisms for local awareness raising, generating public discussion and influencing policy making and implementation at the national level.
