The seminar was held at the Arab Orthodox club, in A-Ram, Jerusalem. Participants included representatives of Israeli, Palestinian and international human rights NGO’s that are members of the coalition as well as representatives of other organizations such as the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Israel Committee Against House Demolitions.

The training was conducted by Ms. Anna-Lena Svensson, an independent lawyer and human rights consultant who has carried out extensive training and research on the issue of torture for UN Agencies and international NGOs. She has recently drafted a study for the European Parliament on the implementation of the Guidelines in third countries and is currently carrying out a similar study regarding Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories on behalf of PCATI for the UAT coalition’s next annual report due to be issued by the end of this year.
